2 resort areas ban 2 "bad" old dogs

See that panting bit of fluff on the left? His name is Gizmo. And he has a bounty on his head. (Actually, does he even have a head? Looks to us like he’s just one piece.) If he’s ever seen in Aspen, Colo., again, it’s curtains for the 13-year-old canine.

You see, Gizmo has been in trouble on and off for years for “biting and other bad behavior,” according to an AP article. In the end, when faced with giving Gizmo a death sentence, a judge decided to give the tiny pooch one last chance: The wee dog could vamoose from this resort area forever and he would be forgotten. But if he steps paw in Aspen again, it’s bang, bang! OK, it not bang, bang! That’s a bit Old West, even for Colorado. But if G-dog is seen in Aspen again, his days will be extremely numbered.

He’s not the only elderly dog to get the boot from a toney area this week.

Lester, an 11-year-old bluetick coonhound, was banned from the resort island of Nantucket at about the same time. According to The Boston Globe, neighbors and police testified that Lester howled incessantly, and that he has bitten four people in the last few years.

“Anytime I go into the backyard I need to carry something, like a weapon, to protect myself in my own backyard,’’ a neighbor testified. “It’s pretty bad, pretty scary…”

It’s not clear what would happen if Lester finds himself on the island again. Some say authorities might have him destroyed. Others say he’ll just be put on the next boat out of town. It’s probably not a chance Lester or his people want to take. Know anyone selling a nice hosue in Providence? Lester might be looking…
