Through all her ups and downs of late, Jessica Simpson has been able to count on one thing: Her caramel-colored Malti-Poo, Daisy. But now the singer can’t even do that. She announced in a tweet on her Twitter page Monday night that as she watched, a coyote absconded with her beloved Daisy.

“My heart is broken because a coyote took my precious Daisy right in front of our eyes. HORROR! We are searching. Hoping. Please help!” she tweeted. She is offering a reward, and has lots of sympathetic tweets from supporters — and of course the expected remarks involving Wile E. Coyote.

Our hearts go out to Jessica, and especially to poor Daisy. A few months ago another celeb whose name we don’t recall (but Zulu is doing the research as we write this) lost a dog to a coyote in the Hollywood hills. We don’t think the dog was ever found. But we’re hopeful that perhaps Daisy had so much perfume from always being swaddled in Jessica’s embrace that once the coyote got her to her dining room, she decided it was just too much, and let her go.

Well, it’s possible.

We’ll keep you posted.
