Jump to CommentsDogs bite into insurance liability
This is a little embarrassing to admit, but dog bites represented one-third of homeowner liability insurance claims last year. That’s a 9 percent increase in the number of claims, costing insurers $387. 2 million, according to the Los Angeles Times. That’s a lot of kibble.
The article states that more than 4.5 million Americans are bitten by dogs each year, with about 900,000 needing medical care. We’re not sure what’s going on here. Are dogs simply attacking Americans? Are Canadians and Italians exempt? We staffers need to chew on this for a while. Meanwhile, here’s some good reading on how to avoid being bitten by a lawsuit by being a responsible dog person (or a responsible dog, if you are a canine internet surfer).
